So, Hannah Montana on Disney Channel recently had Miley/Hannah break up with her ‘true love’ Jake for cheating on her. Keep in mind that he’s an actor and the picture of him cheating could’ve been a picture of him from a movie, although he didn’t deny cheating. But anyway, now Miley is single again, and, she likes some guy from last season. She ends up ignoring her Dad and rescheduling a Father/Daughter day with him to go out with Jesse, the guy. Then, on the date, Jesse takes a call from his Dad, when Miley flips out on him, saying that she had to leave her Dad for a day with him, and he can’t ignore one phone call. But… Jesse’s Dad is in Afghanistan! Then the commercial ends with ‘A special performance by Hannah Montana dedicated to military families’! Okay, no offense intended to military families or anyone, but it bothers me how Disney just summed up the episode in 20 seconds. Yes, I’m still going to watch it if I’m home, but it bothers me that now others won’t because they summed it up. And for this special, important episode, they spoiled the plot, but for other random episodes, they don’t tell us anything.
They’ve done the same with Good Luck Charlie, like the episode with the anniversary. ‘The kids plan a special anniversary dinner for Mom and Dad! But will plans fall apart? *Cue showing Charlie ruining the Moroccan theme*’. And then that episode where Teddy sucks up to her teacher ‘Teddy’s teacher doesn’t like her! So will she use Charlie to help her?’, and then they said something about Charlie being gassy. Basically, they always spoil the episode within the commercial.
The only show they haven’t done this for is Suite Life On Deck (I know who’s getting eliminated kicked off, but from outside blogs, not Disney), and it’s basically on it’s sixth season. Wizards of Waverly Place doesn’t get spoiling commercials, but… misleading commercials, which are just as bad. And Sonny With a Chance? My brother figured out who did it in the one hour special, Sonny with a Secret, before that episode even aired.
That iCarly episode where she gets a brand new room had not 1, or 2, but 3 places to stop the commercial! ‘It’s Carly’s birthday!’, ‘But there’s a disaster!’ and ‘Her new room/Spencer saves the day’, but not actually showing the room! I was gonna watch it, until I realized, A) It would be on reruns(I haven’t seen it yet D:), B) It would be on Demand(It’s not there, either), and C)They already showed pictures of her room online, so I’m not really missing anything. This commercial spoiling thing is a multi-network phenomenon!
But overall, I’m happy Disney did a special episode, but they should’ve just end the commercial with ‘But will a phone call ruin their date?’, then show the performance clip .
