Help, anyone?

I’ve been trying to add The Mare’s Nest to my ‘Blogs I’m following’ thing for a while now, but Blogger goes a little weird with it, probably because it’s not on Blogger. But I’ve seen other people add other websites to their lists. So, how do I add them?

So, today, I was playing Sims, minding my own business, when… the game just crashed. The end. And this week, I bought a laptop cooler so my laptop won’t overheat as much, so that made things slightly better. Yeah, now I save after anything major happens, so I’m not that mad, but still. It takes an hour to load, and I wanna just play in peace.

 

What am I expecting? It’s EA. I should be use to this by now. :P

An Explanation

Hi guys. I know I haven’t posted since Saturday, but I was just taking a break. There wasn’t anything to blog about, in my opinion, and my cousin came over for a few days so that took away some computer time.

I was also trying to do more of my summer reading. Remember how I said I was going to go to an AP history class? Yeah, I’m starting to think about transferring out. My essays aren’t AP-quality, I still haven’t started the summer reading, and my other classes are stressing me out enough. I don’t think I can handle a college level class. But I’m worried that this is one of those life-altering choices, like colleges will go like ‘Oh, sorry, you can’t come because you didn’t take any AP classes in sophomore year’. Or there will be no honors class available and I’m stuck in AP. Goodness. So, um, any of you post high school people out there with advice? I’m already taking 3 honors classes, so 4 honors shouldn’t look bad.

And in the Timbersons… I know I haven’t posted anything for like 2 weeks, but I promise I’ll post a chapter before Saturday.

We got laptop cooler stuff, so now our laptops won’t over heat, so the Sims 3 can load faster! :o.

And we’re going on vacation next week, so yeah.

And guess which blog recently got 1000 views? :P I know it’s not a lot, but hey, it’s a start.

Sims Videos: Party Playlist

EA? REALLY?

So, our laptop, from December 25, 2009 takes a little long to load the Sims. I’m not saying 5 or 10 minutes, but an average of 40 minutes. So yesterday, around 6PM (18:00 for you military time users), my brother, Shiny Shinx, decided to clean the custom content section on our launcher and we deleted a bunch of stuff. We did that for 6 hours. Sure, most of it was just make up that came with households, but hey, if we delete anything, shouldn’t that make things go faster?

But guess what? At 12:00 AM, we decided to play Sims. It usually takes 40 minutes, with all the CC and the fact that the house is usually full. It took one hour and a half. Without most of the CC. So we finally got to play at 1:30 AM. Then at 2, my parents were all ‘You’ve been online all day. D: ‘ and stuff so we had to go to sleep. So after basically 7 and a half hours of doing stuff for EA’s game, I only got to play for 30 minutes.

I’m gonna take a break from Sims. Not the community, or the blogs, but just playing the game. I’m not sure if it’s a laptop thing, but it’s basically brand new.

I don’t know what I’ll do instead. I’ll probably work on the Timberson legacy more, and try to catch up to where I am in the game. Maybe I’ll make a website. Who knows.

So, EA lost my respect, again. Right after their new expansion pack announcement.

What Late Night Really is about…

People all over the community have been trying to guess what Late Night’s similar to, or a more general theme on it.

Comparisons to Nightlife have been common.

Others have talked about it in a musical way.

[And on a side note, I think Lady GaGa- Pokerface, Telephone, or LoveGame would be better for the whole city theme. Maybe Dance in the Dark? :P ]

Some people have called it ‘Nightlife and Apartment mixed together’.

And even the Sims Wiki doesn’t know what to call it!

Yes, comparisons to 4 other Sims games. (Hot Date, Nightlife, Superstar, and The Urbz).

Maybe EA even went to a fan made expansion pack idea to get ideas!

Late Night… Already?

Um, EA? As happy as I am that you announced your new game, I’m kind of… concerned. You see, with all the glitches your games have, and with Ambitions only being released about a month and a half ago, shouldn’t you focus on different things, like your forum? Or fixing those glitches? My Sims still can’t use their beds, or take the bus or use their carpools, you know! Besides, if the wait between World Adventures and Ambitions was longer, and even the announcement was several months after World Adventures(Yes, including the Stuff Pack announcement/release), shouldn’t making expansion packs be the last thing on your mind? Oh, that’s right, I forgot: You’re greedy.

So please, EA. Don’t do it for me, don’t do it for your fans, but do it for your reputation: Fix your games before you release them. And do something about the banhammer and SimGurus on your forum

So, how many of you readers promised yourselves Ambitions would be the last EA product you’d buy… until you saw the trailer for Late Night? I know I did. :P

Can EA even last a DAY without pissing me off? :/

So, today, I was playing the Sims. And guess what? After not touching my game for a few days, I decided to play today. So, it was one of those ‘birthday marathon’ days, and with a house that’s almost always full, birthdays are a great reminder that one day, your house will be empty, eventually. So, I was going to start playing through, until… my laptop just SHUTS OFF ON ME FOR NO REASON. This happened for 2 or 3 more times, and currently, it’s my fourth time loading. Today. There’s a reason why I haven’t played a day in-game since Friday, EA. And no, buying your overpriced crap won’t make it better. Speaking of which,

 

if you can’t read it, it’s the latest mass message EA sent, trying to recruit people to buy their crap.

Even the advertisement on the right seems more legit than EA, at this point!

Chronicles of a Webmaster

This past week, I wanted to go back into fansite making. I miss making layouts and content for the website, and making friends from viewers and affiliates was fun. And I miss doing something... productive. Not just social networking. Or playing video games. 

So today, I decided to go to 'Webs'(Formerly Freewebs) and make a website. So I did. And I went on. I made an account. Then I quickly deleted it. 

Why?

I realized that I wasn't ready for one. What happens when school would come? Would I ignore it again? What about if I got into 'drama'? Delete my website? What about after high school? What would my website be about? Where could I find affiliates or viewers? Where would I learn the HTML[I've taken Web Design in school, but if I wanted to make a good layout on my own, that would take days of Google searching] to make a good layout?

But I was mostly discouraged by being themeless. Here's a quick history lesson that'll help out for the rest of this post.

Back in April 2007, my brother and I made a fansite for Pokemon. (Hey, we were 12, and the fanbase was bigger back then!). Things were going great. And over the course of 16 months(Fast forward to June 2008) we moved around... 3 times(The website, not us. :P) Things went horrible fall of that year, and it became a general Nintendo fansite, but by February 2009, we managed to do a slight comeback(And by comeback, I mean 'Christina Aguilera comeback'; all the preparation and hype, but for no reason, there's a flop[No offense to Christina Aguilera intended]). Things got better, until fall of 2009, when we decided to just make it a personal-esque site, featuring several video games, like Pokemon, Mario stuff, Nintendo in general, and Zoo Tycoon 2, as well as sprite art and banners and stuff. Then... it just faded away. 

So, we didn't know what to make the site theme this time. 

•  Sims? With our stories and stuff over there?
• Mario stuff? With guides and graphics?
• Pokemon? With years of experience but a lost fanbase?
• Zoo Tycoon 2? With pictorials and reviews?
• Graphic Arts in general? With sprite art/comic stuff too?

So, yeah. I felt clueless. Maybe a blog is the main thing right for me now. But I'll give you a link if I ever make this website. :P

New Banner!

Hi everyone. As you can(hopefully)tell, there's a new blog header. I made it in GIMP. I haven't used it for... 6 or 7 months? And before, I always knew what to put in the banner (Like video game character) and stuff, so it wouldn't be so empty. And I wasn't sure how Blogger's proportions would look. But oh well. I'm proud. 

And the font is Birth of a hero. The brushes? They're from... DeviantArt, I think. Well, I downloaded them a year or two ago, so it's amazing how I still managed to make an okay banner in GIMP! 

Ugh. And I'm posting this from Blogger, not Window Live Writer, so the font will look messed up. D: *crosses fingers*

UGH I HATE YOU EA. I PLAY YOUR GAME FOR LIKE THE WHOLE DAY AND NOTHING BIG REALLY HAPPENS AND THEN WHEN IT’S ONE OF THOSE DAYS WITH EVERYONE’S BIRTHDAY YOU DECIDE TO ACT LIKE BE A COMPLETE PIECE OF CRAP AND CRASH ON ME? HOW DARE YOU. Seriously. I play your game for recreation, and instead, I’m freaking pissed off. And then they act like ‘oh nothing went wrong :).’ and crap. Seriously. Screw you, EA. I’m annoyed at how I give you my time and money and in return, you treat me like nothing?

On top of that, my laptop charger is acting annoying, so it broke. Seriously. I saw sparks and smoke and stuff. I didn’t even do anything. o.O Thankfully, it’s not the laptop I play Sims on, but my parents are gonna act like it’s my fault, so they’re gonna be like ‘Yeah, you’ve been online a lot and you’re gonna break this laptop too, so just read or go outside or something’. In 80 degree weather, with mosquitoes? No thank you.

And in other, completely unrelated, and pleasant news…

Blah

So, I plan on starting my summer reading today. I’ll spare you the details of what I have to do[And to be honest, I forgot if I already told you], but I’ll just warn you that it may take up the rest of the summer. I’m only going to read and junk for like 2 hours a day though, so I’ll still have time to relax and everything. I really hope it’s less than it seems to be.

And this post seems too short.  So I’ll just rant about how it takes me on an average of 40 minutes to load the Timberson’s house to play in the Sims 3. It doesn't matter if I have 8 Sims or just 2 or 3, it’ll take a long time to load. It doesn’t help that my game crashes at the most random times,and even if I’m just saving to have a backup, it’ll just quit or crash then. Then it’ll take another 40 minutes to load, and so on. This happens 2 or 3 times a day. And ugh. I get like only a couple hours of Simming done in comparison of how much time I spend online.

Quick update!

Hi everyone. I found an awesome legacy; the Kanes, made by Viva La Simming. The writing is humorous(To me, anyway :P), and it’s a part of Nova’s Legacy Challenge. So have fun reading it.

And I got the mini-update thing EA was offering… and the game is working better! The Sims can bathe again and change their clothes on their home lot. So that’s a start, I guess. :]

Why I still feel bad for Lindsay Lohan

“The 1998 remake of The Parent Trap is kind of depressing to watch now since it's a family movie starring the now late Natasha Richardson (who of course, recently died in a skiing accident). It also of course, stars a young Lindsay Lohan in more innocent, precocious times. Also, the whole plot centers on Dennis Quaid's twins (both played by Lindsay Lohan). In real life, Dennis Quaid's own newborn twins almost died due to an accidental overdose.” Taken from TV Tropes.

If you haven’t heard already, Lindsay Lohan is going to jail for breaking some DUI stuff. I think it’s really out of hand that she’s going to jail as a result of partying for several reasons.

1. Her parents. The only people who will benefit from her experience immediately are her parents. They rank with the Gosselins and Joe Jackson, in terms of parents that just mooching off their children’s fame. They’re going to be horrible to her and just try soaking up every second of ‘fame’ she has.
2. It’s not benefitting her. She’s going to be sharing a prison with rapists, murderers, and other people, not to mention, wasting people’s tax dollars, just because she got caught driving a car under the influence. I understand she broke the law, but can’t she just go to rehab instead, which is made to help people like her? I understand jail isn’t supposed to be helping people, but still, journalists are having a field day telling their viewers how it’s gonna help her.
3. This will delay her comeback, if she will have one. People won’t want to hire ‘the girl from jail’ for her movies, especially with new competition that the media drools over(Megan Fox, Kristen Stewart, etc.). And if people didn’t hire her when she was ‘the eating disorder girl’ or ‘the party girl’ and so on, nobody will even think about hiring her now.
4. A while back, I was reading a ‘celebrity 2010 death prediction list’, as morbid as it sounds, and Lindsay Lohan was on it. I tried finding it to have as a link, but I couldn’t find it… and instead, Google gave me many more lists with her on it. I was repulsed by it, and especially how most of them agreed she’d die in a downward spiral from drugs, drinking, and so on. What if prison pushes her over the edge? I understand she broke a law, and if it was some random 23 year old from New York City or something I’d be all ‘They broke the law. No ifs ands or buts.’ but seriously. They should’ve just make the trial as quick and painless for her as possible.

But yeah, I wish the best for her, and I respect the court’s decision. So remember kids, designated drivers really are your friends!

I’m baaaack

My brother and I came back from camp… Sunday afternoon. But being the Internet addicts we are, we had like a million stuff to check online (Okay, so I had to catch up on the Sims-blogosphere, watch Friends, visit some websites, and Facebook, but still, that takes up a lot, for me.), and in real life, such as reading newspapers (Okay, so just the advice columns, comics, and whatever else I find interesting), and such.

And Ambitions came in the mail last week (While I was at camp… how convenient. >.<’’) and we decided to test it out and stuff. But we played with our legacy family, the Timbersons, so… hilarity ensued. Beds and showers became unusable, guests who just walk by stay in the house forever, ages got MESSED UP big time, and basically, it made me want to scream. In the Northeast, there’s already a heat wave, and I didn’t really need Ambitions not working so well to make me even more infuriated. But hey, it’s EA, what else should I expect?

And ughhhhh. I feel weird. Like one less week of summer already. And I have a junkload of summer reading to do (I’m not sure if I mentioned this already…but 1 chapter outline for 2 textbooks and reading a book of our choice [from a list'] and being tested on it for the first day of school, reading two short stories and doing another assignment based off that, and reading two books of my choice and being prepared to discuss them.) So I’m planning on starting next week, and I’m scared because last summer it took me 6 weeks to read Great Expectations(Yes, the Great Expectations) and stuff so basically, it’s like school’s starting all over again. Eh.

And I hate how the World Cup is basically almost over already. It started like on the exact weekend of pre-final assignments and stuff, so I couldn't really watch the first few games, up till June 22 or 23 (Yeah, I’m bad at keeping dates D:). Then I had like 4 or 5 days to watch games, and then… I went to camp for a week and apparently all the interesting games happened then. And now it’s almost over. :(
