Friday, Friday

When I was a kid, there used to be the occasional plot on shows and cartoons when a character had some musical skills. They’d pay a bunch of money to some scammer for a ‘recording session’ and they’d get an address for the ‘recording studio’. Once they’d go, however, it would be an abandoned building and they’d be scammed from con artists.

This weekend, I watched it happen in real life.

There’s a company called Ark Music Factory. They convince Stage Parents that their teenage daughter is ‘the one’, so they pay a lot of money to get a video, song and promotions for their new ‘superstar’. The videos are laughable (They make Disney look amazing) and they’re never taken seriously.

And what was this recent result?

It’s about a girl’s obsession with Friday. Except she sounds like a 13 year old Ke$ha, she sings lyrics about the days of the week, her friends are horrible dancers and she’s autotuned like hell. And do I see Usher in there, too?

And now, that video has gone viral. There’s even a Time article on her! She’s been trending on Twitter for God knows how long, and she’s becoming an Internet joke. The poor girl is probably around 15 and just wanted to be famous, or had a Lohan like parent who forced her to do this. And now her entire reputation is ruined. She probably lost all of her friends, boy or girlfriend, and millions of people are making fun of her online. Someone’s gonna need a self esteem seminar.

Apparently that company has other videos as well. Rebecca just was the ‘chosen one’ to end up with Internet fame.

But yeah. Due to some random company’s greed and Usher wanting to find Justine Bieber, Rebecca Black is probably going to have to change schools.

Please, please let this be a stealth parody.

  1. I felt like I was going to have a seizure from some of those areas with the extreme flashing. Poor girl.

  2. In the middle... so much flashing. That's awful that people have made fun of the poor girl for doing that though. Like you said, it was either her just wanting to be famous or a stage parent, and now she's being made fun of by hundreds of people. Sad. Hopefully her friends and bf/gf (If she has one) stuck by her, but she's probably being made fun of by a lot of kids at her school.

  4. @ AE: Lmao, that sucks. And apparently she was featured on Comedy Central, too...? D:
@ Mike: I know! Now there's six million views! And she's only 13!
@ jen: I like the set, but that's it. xD

She should make a depressing ballad about Mondays. Or Sunday nights, when the weekend ends, lol. xD

  6. I could forgive the lyrics, because I've heard more random lyrics. The autotune and the video? Not so much.

Her GMA appearance made her seem endearing. And she sounds okay without autotune.

  7. Yeah, I was surprised, too. She doesn't dress like any 13 year old I know.
I like her voice when it's natural-ish. Like when she sang the anthem. But yeah, I hate the calendar part of the song.
