Personal Post

Here’s a lot of short and random personal posts that are way too short for their own posts, so they’ll be clumped up here. Smile with tongue out

Yay, Osama Bin Laden was killed! Smile I hope the war ends soon. But since I don’t know much about the war and I’m not going to blog ignorantly, that’s all I’ll say about this.

I made the script for Spanish, but Julia and my teacher didn’t understand it. Julia said she’d fix it Friday but she still didn’t send me anything, so… yeah. And I know she’d probably just fix easy stuff like minor conjugation stuff and I’d have to add more lines that make sense.

A few months ago, my laptop got a virus so I got paranoid and changed all of my passwords. I changed like at least 5 passwords at once, but I forgot all of them, so… yeah. I lost the email for this account and the account I share with SS. But the personal one only got religious forwards from my cousins and uncle and aunt, so that’s no loss. Smile with tongue out And I know what you’re thinking: Isn’t there a forgot password thing? I made some of these emails when I was 11, so… yeah. And it’s only relevant now because AE’s changed her privacy stuff due to trolls and I forgot my password over there, so I need a new email and a new account but I need to be invited to join…. I need to write my passwords down somewhere.

And I uninstalled all of my CC except Riverview so the game could go faster. I get most of my CC from the same few places, so it’s not that big of a loss. I hope it works.

And happy 26th birthday, Lily Allen! Smile

I’m in a CC mood

I just learned how to download Custom Content not from the exchange. Well, SS was telling me exactly what to do each step in the process so I won’t screw up. Smile with tongue out I suck at the whole CC scene. But yeah. I’ve had the game since… December 27 2009?

It doesn’t help that I’m reading a Sims 3 Custom content related magazine, Sensation. It’s more like Sim Modeling and stuff, and they creatively mention what CC to get. Like, it’s not like ‘so and so made this dress. Download it now!’, but more subtle stuff like dresses for fun nights out.

In other news, the weather is getting better here. And it didn’t really snow that much yesterday around here. I saw Massachusetts in the news and they had a lot of snow, to the point of shoveling. o.O

Question

Would you prefer if I made another blog for like Degrassi reviews and whatnot? Because I’m pretty sure my weekly (okay, bi-weekly) Degrassi updates are irrelevant-ish, and I kind of want my blog to be about my personal life and the Sims and stuff, not just a review blog, if that makes sense.

Like, I know most of the blogs that have my link don’t have it up for the Degrassi parts, but I think having a separate blog for one tag would be pointless. Maybe I could put other reviews on it too, or something.

Then again, this season ends April 22nd (Good Friday, I believe), so after that, there’s probably gonna be less Degrassi posts. Never mind, I watch it online, too.

So… what do you think?

No Title

First of all, welcome back TMN! Smile We all miss you.

The next part of the post is a rant. Mean? Yes. Uncalled for? Probably.

No offense Vidkid, but I think you overreacted. I understand that sometimes some jerks overreact on your blog, but last night’s post wasn’t that rude. Maybe enough to close comments, but not enough to make your blog private. And we all didn’t comment on your blog negatively, so just because a few people were mean to you, that doesn’t mean you need to hide your entire blog. I understand this post is going to be viewed negatively and I’m going to be antagonized for my opinion, but guess what? That’s it. My opinion. Nothing else.

A few years ago, I had a Pokémon fansite. I got several rude comments from an unknown visitor. He wasn’t anonymous, but everyone literally knew each other in that community, so yeah. But I didn’t delete that chatbox or hide my website or anything. I just checked his IP address and ironically, it was the same IP address as my frenemy from that community. And that week, we were enemies. So yeah. And then I simply told him ‘look, your IP address matches so-and-so’s. Explain.’ . But the frenemy said it was his cousin staying over his house (who ironically also knew a lot about web design Shifty) and his cousin just trolled. The only outside source that got involved was my other friend who was hosting the website at the time, and soon, the comments went away. I was 14, the frenemy was 13 and the hostess was 17. But we managed to keep it under control. So if a bunch of teenagers could control their problems, why can’t young adults?

And I got into a Facebook fight once. This girl, who I’ve blogged about in August I think, was acting completely psycho. Like, writing on my wall, status, wall posts, and everything else with… messages. Everything you could think of. From apologies to threats. But I handled it well and maturely (and I even got 4/5ths of the grade to be on my side Smile with tongue out) by responding to her calmly. She just hid her wall, blocked anyone who didn’t completely support her, and printed out selected screenshots to the principal. Most of the grade thought she acted stupid about it, because she couldn’t even fight her own battle (which she started). My point is, you can’t just hide from your battles all the time. Sometimes, you gotta deal with negative people and comments, too.

No Offense, But...

Isn't what's going on in Libya important too? I understand that everybody reads the Mare's Nest, but if you were that close with them or they were that important to you, wouldn't you have some sort of outside contact with them? I mean, people over there are being killed, and their corrupt government is getting away with it, and then some people are worrying about a trio's blog being down?
I'm worried too, but I'm pretty sure they've had other mini-hiatuses as well, although not this long. But other times they've been down this long, they've severely owned and damaged some troll reputations. Maybe this time, it's Jarsie's turn?

I'm reading some Libyan tweets and they're horrible. They're being killed and they can't do anything about it. According to this article, you can't even mention their leader's name without attracting attention and discussing national policy with foreigners can imprison someone for 3 years. I understand that Sims 3 blogs are escapes, but still. It's not like one URL is going to change what's on my mind.

My Inner Narcissist Wants to Reply

The title explains it all. So AE, I apologize if it seemed like I was being bitter about blogging about a friend. I would’ve say the same thing if it was for a complete stranger. And I never said you were wrong, or I didn’t respect your opinion. I didn’t ask you to change. I just simply stated my own opinion.

The harassments were wrong. The lies were wrong. But I haven’t spoken with Kami in a while, so I don’t even know if she saw the post. So I wasn’t blogging because her feelings got hurt. I was blogging because I wanted  to.

And the same goes for everyone’s blogs. I can’t tell you what to do, you can’t tell me what to do, and so on. And likewise, if you can’t accept that, then you know how to press CTRL W.

Ignore this post if AE’s recent post wasn’t directed toward me. I’m in a narcissistic mood today, so I wanted to reply.

My Thoughts on the TMN Gift Post

Okay, first, I’m just going to say this one thing: I don’t want to stretch this out into a saga of blog posts that will end with someone taking in indefinite hiatus.

Now that that’s out of the way, I agree with what The Mare’s Nest did/said for the gifting situation. I’m friends with Kami, and I’ve been in Kelle’s chatbox a few times, but I understand what their ‘side’ did was wrong. Gifting people just to tell them off is wrong. I think I remember reading that on someone’s blog once about gifting stuff to the Gurus (I think it was FuryRed or The Mares themselves, but I don’t remember who) just to tell them off. So wouldn’t that be cyberbullying? Yes, I doubt the big corporation would try to sue some angry kids, and that many gifts from several people is different than one that just says ‘eff you!’, but isn’t it the same thing at the end of the day?

And for AE’s blog post: Well, you wouldn’t want to know about my Internet history. No, I didn’t do anything illegal, but I used to troll and be annoying and hated and even won third place for ‘troll of the year’ in a forum contest poll thing… when I joined a forum in August. I won’t say what the forum was (It was for Pokémon, though), or what my username was (I used a different name for that community, for this purpose, oddly), but I’m just going to tell you: I was awful. And 11. And bored. But I eventually used grammar, stopped harassing people, and grew up. And then I won an honorable mentioned award for the most improved category.

If I dared to link that account here, I’d be shunned. You’d all want my Internet disconnected years ago. But once again, I grew up and made my own blog. Now, whether or not you think I’m a n00b now is your opinion, but if the Internet was just a hit or miss chance, where would some of us be? I’ve got into Facebook fights on real life. I’ve gotten into some fights with the Pokémon fansite community when SS and I had one. But I changed after learning my mistakes. And I haven’t been a troll or n00b in this community yet (This blog post probably is sending me down that road, but whatever), so that should count for something, right?

I mean, I agree that if a n00b/troll does something illegal or on the cyberbullying side, they should be punished, but can’t they change? I’m not calling Kami and her friends n00bs or trolls, but I’m pretty sure that in a few months, some of them will cool down and change their behavior.

I’m trying not to sound condescending, but haven’t we all been the lowest on the totem pole? Don’t we all have n00b/troll experiences? Why are we trying to forget our pasts, just because TMN didn’t cover it?

Should they grow up? Yes. Do we have to shun them and hate them until they do? Not necessarily.

Wow, this blog post was shorter than I thought it would be.

Thank You VIDKID!

Thanks for helping SS and me with the patch issue. Our game works now! :D

There Needs to be a…

Blog with game help, patch links, and what the EA customer service section should be. Like MySims3Blog with techie people. :P Seriously, it’s been two days and I haven’t been able to play the Sims since Friday night! Guess who also had little homework this weekend? –_- I’ve been seeing that stupid racially ambiguous girl in the blue dress on my launcher for two days now. EA should let me download a patch even if I already have it. They’re telling me the game is updated, but the base game is incompatible with everything else? Why? Seriously, patch or not, my game was ruined. Friday night, the game crashed because we didn’t have the patch, and now, with or without the patch, it’s still not working! [/furious]

Oh, and SS and I made some Halloween themed Sims for today. I’d post/make more, but EA is being stupid and I can’t play. :( The link is on our other blog, over here. So Happy Halloween! :)

A Quick Thought

On the whole Mare's vs FuryRed issue: My thought is... let them do whatever they want. They're both mature and grown up, and they'll eventually come to their senses... hopefully. My only negative-ish thing is: What happen to the Mares that supported people using their own, non-EA blogs to fight their censorship? Why did they want everyone to communicate on blogs to practice freedom of speech, then once someone puts a (Well written and not just 'mares suck!!!1111111!11') argument against them, they take their blog down from their nav bar? What? I mean, I usually just scan through the non-EA related posts, so I'm still confused on what happened, but doesn't that go against their previous posts and outlook on life? I admire TMN for sticking up on important issues, like anything Jarsie9 does, the Jack4740 IP scandal, testing out EPs and SPs, and just general anti-EA stuff, but really, shouldn't they just privately contact her or something, and not make a big fuss out of it? If they're worried about Fury tainting their 'image', trust me Mares, you're not going anywhere.

And I'd appreciate a laconic, impartial version of what happened. So I could know if I mangled up the story and whatnot.

Announcements

Warning: This post is just random Twitter sized statements concerning future stuff that may or may not concern you. So, you know where the ‘Close Tab’ button is. :P

  • School: I finished my second summer reading book, and now I have to decide if I want to stay in AP or go to Honors, and then I have to either do 1 assignment and read 1 book for AP, or read 2 books for honors. Advice?
  • The Timbersons: Expect a new chapter to be posted tomorrow(Well, it’s like 1 AM over here so I still consider it ‘today’), or rather around 8/12/10. Sidenote: Ewwwww, August is moving by too fast. *Ties Down*
  • I made a LiveJournal! Yeah, it’s effortless, and I won’t be going on it a lot, but since a good portion of longer-lasting Sims legacies are over there, and I want to comment and stuff, I just made an account to get an upgrade from a ‘lurker’ status. :P
  • And for the Sims, or rather, my Simming habits. In game, we’re almost up to generation 8, and posting wise, generation 4. Posting isn’t as big an issue as playing it, because it takes like an hour to load, which will become quite time consuming in the school year whereas posting doesn’t take as much time, and chapters can be as long or short as we’d like. And I have a huge feeling that Late Night will have a bunch of flirty/party animal reality show(Ahem, Jersey Shore) like stories, or will create a whole new ‘genre’(Could you call Sims stories that?) of it’s own… so be warned. :P

Help, anyone?

I’ve been trying to add The Mare’s Nest to my ‘Blogs I’m following’ thing for a while now, but Blogger goes a little weird with it, probably because it’s not on Blogger. But I’ve seen other people add other websites to their lists. So, how do I add them?

Quick update!

Hi everyone. I found an awesome legacy; the Kanes, made by Viva La Simming. The writing is humorous(To me, anyway :P), and it’s a part of Nova’s Legacy Challenge. So have fun reading it.

And I got the mini-update thing EA was offering… and the game is working better! The Sims can bathe again and change their clothes on their home lot. So that’s a start, I guess. :]

Legacy Links

So in the Sims 3 community, this weekend there was some major news. No, not the Jack vs The Mare’s Nest news, and although that was big, that’s not what I’m talking about. The Mars Legacy, ran by FuryRed, ended. :( And since I read legacies a lot, I felt awkward without reading one at the moment, so I thought, “Hey, there might be other people who might need a new legacy to read,” so I began looking for other ones. And here are some nice ones I’ve read:

Sims 2

The Rowan Legacy- Status: Completed. Written by: Sims for Aranya

The Knight Legacy: Status: Completed. Written by: Sims for Aranya

The Forest Legacy. Status: Completed. Written by: Sims for Aranya

The Miller Legacy. Status: Not Finished. Written by: Fantasy Rogue

The Brandt Legacy. Status: Not Finished. Written by Prescilla Bean

The Dale Legacy. Status: Not Finished. Written by: Abbycat900

Sims 3

The Mars Legacy. Status: Completed. Written by: FuryRed

If you have a legacy that you think should be up here, just say so, and I’ll put it up!
